The Recreational Cheerleading Association (RCA) was founded to offer cheer camps as well as local, regional and championship cheer competitions for youth, recreational and school leagues across the United States.

RCA's staff consists of certified instructors from across the cheer and dance industry – truly the best-of-the-best instructors and coaches.

RCA was founded by Shelby Barbin, a former Program Director and Head Coach of several leagues in Dallas and Colorado (Dallas Select Football League, Richardson Rams, Richardson Sports Inc., Maysports, i9 Sports, Peak Athletics Plus and St. Joseph Ravens).

Through Shelby’s close involvement in these leagues, she discovered that there was a great need for an affordable, quality training program for recreational athletics and organizations. With a strong belief that cheerleading, drill teams, and other recreational groups are truly the foundation of cheerleading, Shelby set out to create a nurturing program through which young girls could learn fundamentals, build their skills, gain confidence and simply have fun by expressing themselves through cheerleading.

RCA camps and competitions do not treat recreational cheerleaders like "second-class citizens," instead they give them a chance to shine against leagues and schools with whom they don’t often compete. RCA helps create lasting friendships and a spirit of camaraderie, building lasting bonds instead of divisive cliques.
